Simple Gear Ratio Calculator
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 13, 2026
Simple Gear Ratio Calculator ("we", "us", "the site") publishes this Privacy Policy to explain what information is collected when you visit simplegearratiocalculator.com, how it is used, and the choices available to you. We built this tool to be fast and disposable — you calculate a ratio and leave — so we deliberately collect as little as possible.
1. Information we do not collect
The gear ratio, RPM/speed, and bicycle sprocket calculators on this site run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type into any input, slider, or preset are never transmitted to our servers, stored in a database, or associated with your identity. We do not require account creation, sign-up, or login to use any calculator on this site, and we do not knowingly collect personal information such as your name, postal address, or payment details, because the site has no checkout, subscription, or user-account functionality.
2. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers automatically log standard technical information when you visit, which may include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring/exit pages, device type, and timestamps of visits. This information is used in aggregate to understand traffic patterns and improve page performance, and is not used to individually identify you.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and comparable technologies (such as local storage) for a small number of purposes:
- Preference cookies — for example, remembering whether you last used light or dark mode.
- Analytics cookies — placed by Google Analytics (see below) to distinguish unique visitors and sessions.
- Advertising cookies — placed by Google AdSense and its advertising partners once advertising is enabled on this site (see Section 5).
You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Most browsers let you review, delete, or block cookies from their settings menu. Refusing cookies may make some parts of the site behave less smoothly, but the calculators themselves will continue to function, since core calculations do not depend on cookies.
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on page, general geographic region, device category). Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to collect this information in aggregate and anonymized/pseudonymized form. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing theGoogle Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
This site is monetized in part through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, and its advertising partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visitingGoogle Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visitingwww.aboutads.info.
6. Third-party links
This site may link to external resources, including our sister project LiveSpeedometerOnline.com. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site you visit from a link on this page.
7. Children's privacy
This site is a general-audience reference tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection law (such as the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, the right to object to or restrict certain processing, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising purposes. Because we collect very limited automatically-generated technical data and no account data, most requests can be satisfied simply by using the opt-out tools listed in Sections 4 and 5, or by contacting us directly.
9. Data retention and security
Aggregated analytics data is retained by our analytics provider according to its own retention settings. We take reasonable technical measures to protect the site, but no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
11. Contact us
